HEARTLAND NEEDLEWORKS
Spring 2008
Retreat Shots
We had a few moments of concentrated stitching. Pat even
finished her Charmed Hearts from Shepherd's Bush
Barb completed the
front and back sides
of this great
Needlepoint design
Amy did it! After several years her sister will get this
lovely field of butterflys. We watched it come to life
over several retreats and Stitch-Ins.
Dessie did this fun apron project, only her
second finish ever, congrats. Yes, and
that's me in my "Red Apron".
Rebecca and Kim both did Tequila & Salt, Kim's was on
32ct and Rebecca's on the recommended 18ct linen.
Both came out great. Also Wanda finished her
needlepoint Rose design, I just loved watching this
take shape over the last two retreats.
Once again our friends from Wichita Falls
joined us for stitching and shopping.
I was even lucky enough to have two
great friends make it in from out of
town. Cheryl all the way from Iowa.
Our brag board filled up with finishes very quickly this time. This picture was
even missing a couple. I just love seeing everyones work, both the finishes and
the things in progress. It's pretty small but my little frog biscornu is in there,
thank you Lisa for putting that together during the demo.
We may need a bigger board soon.
So much was going on this
retreat I hardly had time to take
any pictures but these were
taken Sunday before we all
packed up.
FINISHES
Pictured to the left is my finished Frog
biscornu (front and back). We provided the
fabric, threads and buttons to all our
campers on Friday, but Casey Buonaugurio
provided the adorable free design. We also
did a short demo on the biscornu finish. The
other kit given to all our campers was a
design called Good Morning Glory from
Ladybug Lane. Lisa did this great banner
finish. Thursday campers got a special little
gift this time, it is a lap mat that is white
fabric on one size and black on the other to
assist whether you are stitching on dark or
light fabrics. Plus everyone choose one of
the beautiful fabric project bags that
LaRheta made, the one shown here is a little
pale but the fabrics used came in all kinds
of great colors and designs. Every project
bag also had a thread inventory booklet that
Lisa compiled for us. It has lists of all the
major thread lines but also Kreiniks and Mill
Hill Beads to help everyone keep track of
the things they have at home.
Thanks to all of you we had a great Spring
Retreat. See you in the Fall.
